I heard for the first time today, an old (1989) song written by Guy Clark called Come From the Heart. Apparently it is off of his album Old Friends. Guy Clark wrote Desperados Waiting for a Train and LA Freeway among many other terrific songs.

The reason why I brought up From the Heart, is that I think it suits Maura's style and song choices very very well. It reminds me of some of her best stuff! I am thinking it is evocative of that album she did, containing Tom Waits and John Hiatt chestnuts' Broken Bicycles and When We Ran.

I don't recall a Guy Clark song on any of Maura's albums, but I could be wrong.

I love going back deep into the older catalog, some of those CDs are great with terrific songs! I could listen forever to Maura's version of Greg Trooper's Ireland

I love "Broken Bicycles" and "We Ran," but one of my favorites from that era is "Unwinding." I just love her version of that song.

I was just listening to WWR on the way to work. Love hearing that one LIVE!

I have this wonderful memory of Maura and Jonathan Trebing post show at the Birchmere a few years back singing a mini version of Broken Bicycles. Jonathon was just sitting around playing the chords and Maura started singing. Talk about goose bumps!
