Yes, as a matter of fact in another thread on this board, Gerry O'Beirne himself supplied those lyrics. Do a search for "Malachy" or use this link:

I've been looking for lyrics to some of Maura's songs; it appears some are quite hard to find. For example, I'm trying to find lyrics to "It's a Beautiful Life" - help!

"Stolen" from the following site http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/nightattheroxbury/beautifullife.htm

Not sure if this is THE song you were looking for...

Ace of Base Lyrics - Beautiful Life Lyrics

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Artist: Ace of Base Lyrics
Song: Beautiful Life Lyrics
You can do what you want just seize the day
What you're doing tomorrow's gonna come your way
Don't you ever consider giving up
You will find, oooh

It's a beautiful Life, oooh
It's a beautiful Life, oooh
It's a beautiful Life, oooh
I just wanna be here beside you
And stay until the break of dawn

Take a walk in the park when you feel down
There're so many things there that's gonna lift you up
See the nature in bloom, a laughing child
Such a dream, oooh

It's a beautiful Life, oooh
It's a beautiful Life, oooh
It's a beautiful Life, oooh
I just wanna be here beside you
And stay until the break of dawn

You're looking for somewhere to belong
You're standing all alone
For someone to guide you on your way
Now and forever

It's a beautiful Life, oooh
It's a beautiful Life, oooh
It's a beautiful Life, oooh

I just wanna be anybody
We're living in different ways

It's a beautiful life, oooh...

The song in question was sung by Maura on Jerry Douglas's record "Slide Rule". I don't have a copy of the CD on hand (but will soon demand that Jerry Douglas himself drives it over to my house) , so I can't tell you the songwriter name.

However, the Ace of Bass song is not the one Maura sang. It's not unusual for there to be many songs with similar or identical titles. I'm on the case, and will report back when I get more info.

Hi Mac-
The Cd says -
E. Ehm / T. Thorny (EHMusic/Justin Music, BMI)
No lyrics.
I could come close to the lyrics from memory, but there's one verse I'm never sure about... afraid to embarrass myself by posting something incorrect, I'll leave it to someone else to find them!

Well, if anyone has a copy of Jerry's "Slide Rule", it might be best to just transcribe and post them here. I get no information searching for the song, or other songs by those writers.

I do remember something like:

It's a beautiful life,
This fallen angel's gonna be alright
Hang on to heaven with all your might
It's a beautiful life.

That's right Mac.

It starts out (I think):
On the wrong side of midnight
One last toast to ties that bind
Drifters and dreamers hide behind faces
Stained with time
Saved by the sound of the closing door
Here they can win without fighting the war
...
Then what Mac said
...

Busy day at work - I can give it a try later tonight when I have the cd on hand...

There are still a couple of words that I am not sure of - and I've listened to this song hundreds of times and have never been certain of the words in the "???". Perhaps someone with sharper ears than mine can fill them in! It's a great song though, one of my favorites.

ok - here goes:

On the wrong side of midnight, one last toast to ties that bind
Drifters and dreamers hide behind faces stained with time
Saved by the sound of a closing door
Here they can win without fighting the war

It's a beautiful life
This fallen angel's gonna be alright
Hang onto heaven with all my might
It's beautiful life

It's a certain kind of empty, a special kind of burn inside
Comes from the lonely ???Well if for??? you only then run and hide
Led by emotion that carries you still
Desperate for pleasure you still need the thrill

refrain

It's rainin' when you get there, rainin' and it took so long
Mile after miserable mile, he's already gone
Hopeless and helpless and caught in the storm
There's no one to turn to but the world keeps on

refrain

It's a beautiful life
Hang onto heaven with all my might
This fallen angel's gonna be alright
It's beautiful life

refrain
