 Say it aint so Maura! I noticed your tweet that next year will be your last on tour. And I am blue What'll I do?

Thank you for all the wonderful memories. You'll always be on the top of my list.

See you out there on the road one last time. Maybe the Birchmere in February.

Love,

Pat

I did not even know she tweeted (Twitter still confuses me), but I logged on and checked....and it shows you are right...

That is really sad! I knew it had to come at some point, but I thought she might go till around 60 or so...LOL

I wonder if she will keep recording...

That kind of makes me sad :(

No, please, no, I just cannot believe what I read.

I may have to sign up to Tweeter to find out and make sure that this is real.

Say it “ain’t so”!

We may have to fly to Ireland, no can do! dang!

I really don’t know what else to say, I am speechless.

But....... I have the warmest memories of....The Bottom Line....B.B. Kings....The Turning Point......once in Fair Lawn NJ...once in a really strange club in NYC (it lasted a month, then closed).....The Outpost in the ‘burbs in Montclair NJ several times (once w. Jeannie!!)...once at the Knitting Factory in Manhattan where I met MIke..... the great xmas show at the Hi-Line Ballroom (Jerry and John Oates) with great pics w. Liam (so cold that night), ...again at the City Winery w. Liam and Laura...oh, and so many, many more.

Some of the greatest times were at the old Bottom Line in NYC, with some terrific double bills, John Gorka for one!; even once got to hang out in a cool bar in the East Village with Zane and Richard....Please be well......I can picture all of these times vividly in my mind.

I was very afraid that something was up..... as it got real quiet on here.

Peace and prayers to all!

Godspeed.

Love,

Bob

There were some very good shows, indeed Bob.

I loved the Turning Point many years ago.... I also remember that one place you mentioned (that closed down after a month).

The city winery was my favorite in recent years.

And, of course, The Bottom Line.....sad...

Oh well....Maybe she only meant she won't tour on a regular basis (but might do things occassionally?)

With these new shows spread out around the country for January, February and March 2013, do you thik the "end" may be premature, I sre do hope so.

I hope so too! From what I have been reading on Twitter 2013 is the last waltz. I imagine Maura will still do the occasional Nashville area charity gig and other shows as a guest artist.

Going to the Birchmere show in February with my Dad, Brother and Sister.

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2013 to everyone!

Best,

Pat

Found that it ws reported in the Albany Times Union that Maura’s show there (at the EGG) in March 2013 is being billed as a ‘farewll” tour, it says to catch her while you can.

Sounds like these may be the last of Maura regular touring.
Irish singer Maura O'Connell is calling her latest concert tour a "farewell" one, so catch her while you can. Like in Albany on Sunday, March 17.

Maybe it will be like Cher's farewell tours. How many of those did she have?

That is kind of sad (about Maura's farewell tour), but I guess it had to happen... sigh...

Oh well...Maybe a trip or two to Nashville might be in our future (assuming she does an occassional concert there?)

Agreed.

The Eagles, Kiss, Phil Collins and the Go Go"s have had a few Farewell Tours too!

Let’s hope Maura’s is like one of theirs’!

Or we can see if Tenn. or Eire are lucky to host a show. BUT NYC in March ’13 seems like a must-see show.

If Van Morrison stops performing and we can’t see him live, there is no reason to steal the oxygen from another living human being. He’s that good.

BTW-- I just heard Tom Kimmel’s live version of his song “Poetic Justice”, that is such a beautiful, beautiful song.
